Our departments
Whilst we don't believe in 'bleeding edge' we have found that keeping up with the curve means using the latest technology. This means we'll play with betas, but ultimately we'll never deploy using them.
We are a Microsoft shop, and firmly believe in the .NET framework as a development platform. Currently, this means that our applications are written in .NET 3.5. Our development environment is VS 2008 and all our code is written in C#. Clearly, that's not the full story, so here's the full stack:
- MS SQL 2005/2008
- IIS running on Windows Server 2003/2008
- ASP.NET 3.5, Webforms and MVC
- C#
- jQuery
- Subversion
- Final Builder
Yes, we're snobs when it comes to our kit. Our production environment looks like an advert for HP Proliant servers and our development environment is not dissimilar.
We use 64-bit Windows 7/Vista. Developers can choose their own display format, but most go for 3 x 19" monitors. For those with more visual range, we also have 3 x 24" LCDs.
Having said all that, we don't love technology for the sake of it... Ultimately we are a software house. Therefore, when you start coding you'll need to get used to daily code reviews, some SCRUM methods, documentation, and submit your work to be fully tested. Still interested?
